These letters to the POST represent the real America ....
Just now, I read with quiet pride the story of Pat Tillman, who gave up a highly paid career as a professional football player with the Cardinals of the NFL ("War & Remembrance," Feb. 24, 2003). Instead, he joined the U.S. Army Rangers, along with his brother Kevin, and is proudly serving his country. |

I think it would be appropriate if Michael Moore turned his back on his Hollywood career and joined Iraq's Republican Guard.
Michael Moore's next film should be "Bowling for Unemployment Checks." After his shameful rant at the Oscars, we can only hope that, in the future, we see a lot less of Moore.
I find it interesting that Tim Robbins threatened Washington Post reporter Lloyd Grove by saying if that he writes about his family again he would "hunt him down." Since Robbins is so loudly anti-violence, what does he intend by this threat - does he mean to talk poor Lloyd to death?
With crocodile tears and cheap shots at the administration, these pampered egomaniacs displayed again their hypocrisy by giving us their unwanted opinions. People watching the Oscars watched for the sake of art, not politics.
Let Hollywood be in the world of make-believe (their profession) and stay out of reality, something they don't seem to have a grasp on.
Susan Sarandon and Barbra Streisand had to keep their mouths partly shut as they knew better - they could sense the negative vibes from the audience after Moore's nonsensical tirade.
Regardless of what anyone chooses to think, we live in a country that has always been very well-defended. And those in Hollywood would not be able to speak freely if they did not live in a country of the well-defended.
Our job is to support the troops who are laying their lives on the line for freedom for all people. We owe them that. Whatever our personal opinion, it is irrelevant to their sacrifice.
The Hollywood elite seem to know more about life than the rest of us mere mortals. At the Academy Awards, I watched our commander-in-chief get insulted and a child molester get a standing ovation. These are the individuals, whose every word we seem to hang on? |
My brother tells me that the Cardinal's guy thinks he's hot shit. The Ranger CO's smoke him as much as they can.
Posted by: Matt on March 26, 2003 01:03 PMI have a suggestion for all the American-bashing lefties in Hollywood: why don't you volunteer yourselves as human shields and strap your worthless selves onto the fronts of the Iraqis' tanks as they advance on our forces and catch a few rounds for Saddam? I think it's only fitting.
And while I'm at it, all you utterly self-absorbed, shallow, narcissistic, arrested adolescents out there in Hollywood should fall on your faces and kiss the ground of this country and thank your lucky stars that you live here in this wonderful land of freedom and opportunity that has provided you with obscene amounts of money and the ability to live lavish lifestyles that would rival most European royalty. If you can't appreciate this country and the great fortune you have, then get the f*%$ out!
I feel much better now, thank you.
IMHO, bcs
