It'd be interesting to see if the same decision would be reached today (i.e. to end a war quickly by using nukes). Wait I already know the answer. It's NO we're too fucking gutless (and the Norks/Iranians know it which is why they'll keep developing their nukes).
Kim is dead-right, the Western Male has been pussyfied.
A Japanese researcher recently got access to the Japanese government’s World War II archives. He reported that after the first bomb, the military tortured an American flyer to find out the next city to be bombed. Tokyo-he confessed. That did not seem to bother anybody not even the Emperor.
After the second bomb fell, they tortured the American flyer some more to find out how many atomic bombs the US had. He told them that the US had 100 atomic bombs. That did not bother the military at all. But it did bother the Emperor and he ended the war even though the military wanted to assassinate him.
It is obvious that the military would have risked their entire population to protect their homeland. The Enola Gay saved countless millions of Japanese lives.
The Smithsonian should give every Japanese citizen the opportunity to see the plane that saved their country.
Posted by: Jake on November 8, 2003 02:03 PMThe plot to assassinate Hirohito, and destroy his recorded surrender speech before it could be broadcast just recently came to my attention. Of course, you are right. So was Truman.
