Our stupid-ass Shih-Tzu ranks at #70. I figured #200.
Fucking thing still pees and craps all over the place.
If it does that anywhere NEAR my guns, it's target practice time.
Posted by: Kim du Toit at January 9, 2004 02:08 AMMy Syd's a mixture of a Dobie and an Aussie shepherd. Hella smart and hella stubborn. I'm surprised the Aussie shepherd didn't rate higher (a 42?!). We always thought that's what made her smarter but perhaps not.
I still say mutts are the only way to go. They tend to be smarter on average and they have less health problems. Plus you can't beat the price tag (free or about $60 at the pound).
Posted by: Molly at January 9, 2004 03:36 AMI'm surprised to see Pugs ranked at 57. My experience has been they don't understand commands very well at all, and what few they do understand they're too stubborn to obey. I would've ranked Akitas higher too....or maybe ours is an exception. Highly intelligent dog, though a little quirky. She will only obey the command to "Come here" if I say it in Italian.

Posted by: Rodger Schultz at January 9, 2004 09:30 AMIt's not MY damn dog. It belongs to The Mrs.
And she gets all upset when I refer to it as "football practice".
