The Kerry Files

LT JG Kerry was assigned to this unit for only a short time before he begged to go home.  But during that time LT JG Kerry exhibited all of the traits of an officer willing to do anything to draw attention to himself.  Opportunistic to a fault, Mister Kerry alienated the men under his command, and they tried to assassinate him several times, only to fail.  Each time LT. JG Kerry nominated himself for the Medal of Honor.  Lt. Kerry credited himself with 2o ebnemy kills but a review board found that "enemy" should be changed to "cock roaches."

Comments: The Kerry Files

Come on now. This fake document is funny, but some will assume it is legit. Kerry's Vietnam service (less than 5 months of a 12 month tour) pretty well removes him from the rolls of the many real war heroes from that era.

Regardless of the medals he put himself in for and received, those of us who were there know how corrupt the awards and decorations system was (and still is).

The common practice of awarding medals to those who don't deserve them only degrades the significance of the medals awarded to the many soldiers who did deserve them.

My favorite quotation from an Officer Efficiency Report (USAF): "This officer has all the qualities of a dog, except loyalty."

Uh, this was not taken from one of mine, fortunately.
