Sidetracked

Secretary of the Navy

31 Jan 1969 - 4 May 1972 John H. Chafee
5 Feb 1981 - 10 Apr 1987 John Lehman

Dear Rita put me on to this Freerepublic soap opera over Kerry's Bronze Star.  John Chafee was SEC/NAV while our hero was doing his 60 days in 'Nam,  This is the citation for Kerry's Bronze Star for Valor.  Notice it seems to be signed by Sec. Navy John Lehman, who held that office under Ronald Reagan 5 Feb 1981 - 10 Apr 1987!

But, is that actually Lehman's signature?   This guy did a photoshop of the Bronze Star and Silver Star documents, and showed that both signatures were identical, whoever's it was.  Another guy pipes in that Chafee's full name is:
John (Lester) H(ubbard) Chafee
Maybe it's Chafee's signature after all.

But wait, here's Chafee's signature

Chafee signature

And a whole bunch more!

Hey kids, a collection of bogus check writing aids, if nothing else.  But then this guy kabar pipes in with what, in the final analysis, may be as close to the truth about John Kerry as we're gonna see.

To: Polybius
I think it is instructive to understand what makes Kerry tick. He is an ambitious self-promotor who has parlayed his brief Vietnam experience into fame, fortune, and power. He can't let it go.
Kerry must have requested an amendment to his DD214. The amendment (DD215), among other things deletes the Vietnam Service Medal and replaces it with the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze stars. The date of this amendment is March 12, 2001!!! Another example: His Bronze Star citation was originally signed by Zumwalt when he was Commander of the US Forces in Vietnam. For whatever reason, at least 12 years after the incident, John Lehman, SecNav 5 Feb 1981 - 10 Apr 1987, signs the same citation. Either Kerry never received his medal at the time or he maybe he threw it away.

What I glean from these two examples is that Kerry is caught in a time warp. He is totally obsessed with Vietnam and his decorations. I can't imagine anyone going back and amending their record that way. What could possibly be the purpose? This is sick. I would also add his recreating and filming his "battles" while being assigned to Vietnam and the Vietnam shrine he keeps in his home. It is all a case of image building, but what I find bizarre is the fact that he believes that he really is a "highly decorated war hero."

If you're doing a term paper, another guy lists every Sec/Nav since 1949.  But wait.  Here's more mystery.

We also have another mystery in addition to the Lehman signatures.

Kerry has the following SILVER STAR certificate -- Signed by John H. Hyland, Pacific Fleet Commander and Then a SECOND certificate signed by Lehman.

Find law has the following SILVER STAR certificate -- Signed by Elmo Zumalt, Vietnam Commander.

While the event and date are the same These 2 Silver Star Certificates have DIFFERENT writeups.

and then ...

I FOUND IT!

I have John Lehman's signature on a Navy Unit Commendation received by the USS Saratoga CV-60 in 1986.

I am scanning it now...but I will save you the suspense:
IT IS IDENTICAL TO THE ONE ON JOHN KERRY'S SILVER STAR!

"Here's my guess .. he did throw his medals on the capital steps and then asked to have them replaced and that is why Lehman's name is on the document

"Wasn't it his Senate Office were those medals showed up again?"

As I post this, the thread is on post number 606.

"Here's my guess .. he did throw his medals on the capital steps and then asked to have them replaced and that is why Lehman's name is on the document

"Or could it be that he didn't throw his medals on the capital steps so he asked to have them replaced to make it appear that he was replacing the ones he had supposedly thrown away?"

The circumstances behind Kerry's medals are secondary to what he SAID he did with them afterward, piling up one conflicting account after another.  Like kabar said, "He is totally obsessed with Vietnam and his decorations." They are the basis of his life, or so it seems.

I usually pay about as much attention to the freepers as I do the DU, but the language changes in the subsequent versions of his Silver Star papers struck me as more than a little odd. Maybe there's a perfect logical reason for it, I dunno.

Like you say, it's all about what he's said/saying now. I'm starting to think the way to tell if he's lying is if his lips are moving.
