Gummint

Howard Greenberg, and a group of  World War II veterans, won't get to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Allied invasion of France next month the way they wanted -- the Army decided they're too old to safely parachute into Normandy.

"I resent being told I'm not physically fit. I only weigh 11 pounds more than I did the day I was discharged," he said.

God bless you Howard, I mean it.  But, if you voted for any Democrats in the past 40 years (fess up, you did vote for Howard Metzenbaum, didn't you?), you brought this on yourself.   You see Howard, by doing that you unwittingly gave away many of the very freedoms you risked your life for, lo those many years ago.  Jump from a gummint plane at your age?  No way.  If you even sprained a pinky there would be two dozen ambulance chasers wanting' to represent you in that 30 million dollar lawsuit.  Thank Democrats for that Howard.  Plus, now that gummint has near total control of your health care (your fault again Howard) they can't take a chance that you won't die outright, and we'll have to pay for your hospital stay.  Sigh. Have a lettuce sammich.

Actually, I hear from one of my sources that the State Department was worried that the paratroopers had been heard to say "This time we're not stopping until we've subdued Paris."

If I was airborne, I'd find a way to make that jump. Currahee!
