The University of Pennsylvania's National Annenberg Election Survey of 1,030 adults, taken Thursday through Sunday, showed that Americans don't believe soldiers were ordered to mistreat Iraqi prisoners ... The poll also found that a large majority of Americans — 66 percent — don't believe Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld should resign over the issue.

Why would he read the newpapers, anyway, unless he has blood pressure medication handy? Given that he probably wants real news, not the opinions of the reporter and/or the editor.

A number of years ago, I spent a month in Europe and did not see or hear any news from US. When I got back I found that I did not miss any news of importance. How could that be?

I sat down and analyzed every news story in the paper and came to some startling conclusions.

80% of the stories are predictions by the reporter of what will happen not what did happen. Because the left has a distorted view of reality, their predictions are almost always wrong. So reading those prediction stories is a waste of time.

15% of the stories are about crimes committed and storm damage. Unless it happened to you reading those stories is a waste of time.

5% of the stories have news you should know. And you can get that news listening to 5-minute news broadcasts while you drive to work.

Any person who makes decisions based up news stories he reads in newspapers is an idiot.

Bush is not an idiot.

I thought the President received written summaries of the morning's news from his staff, and that this has been SOP for many years. Gawd, who, except a ego-inflated journalist, would be surprised by this?

Not news.

Well now the some towel-heads have released a video of an American being beheaded, with a knife, live on camera I wonder if the leftists in this country will scream about *his* mistreatment. Of course they won't! Load your ammo now!

Kennedy and all the rest of the Dim-O-cRats who've been calling the mistreatment of Iraqi detainees "atrocities" need to watch the Berg murder and rethink their use of that word.

I mean, panties on the head an 'atrocity'? Heck, there's places in San Fran where they CHARGE by the hour to do that to a person! If that is classed as an atrocity, what is the Berg murder?

For that matter, what would you call leaving a person to slowly drown in a submerged car? Oh, Teddy apologized for that little faux pas. Um-kay... Bush and Rumsfeld and everyone else over the rank of pfc has apologized for abuse of the detainees. How's that any different?

Like Helen Thomas would know news if it bit her in the ass. She's been back to Michigan to get some dimwit award or other, and the coverage the loony old bat gets is ridiculous. What the hell does she know about Americans, anyway? It's not obvious that she ever pays any attention to them.
