Gee, I wonder what the movie critic thinks about using single base differentiation in genetic code studies?

"Of the science in this movie I have no opinion. I am sure global warming is real, and I regret that the Bush administration rejected the Kyoto Treaty, but I doubt that the cataclysm, if it comes, will come like this ... " Roger Ebert reviewing "THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW "
What he should have written ...
"Of the science in this movie I have no opinion. I am sure global warming is real, but I cannot tell you why.  I regret that the Bush administration rejected the Kyoto Treaty, but I don't regret that the Clinton administration rejected the Kyoto Treaty.  Actually, I should just keep the fuck quiet about political stuff because it makes about half of  my readers dislike the shit out of me."

The Kyoto treaty is a French scam. Over 70% of France’s power comes from nuclear energy and thus they have a large amount of surplus CO2 credit to sell to other countries.

Kyoto treaty means a huge transfer of wealth from countries that do not use nuclear power to France who does.

(Actually the only thing that France does right is nuclear power. If every country adopted France’s nuclear methodology, CO2 levels would not be a problem.)

What he should have written...
"The sky is falling! The sky is falling! We're all gonna die! Live each day as if it were your last! Kill a capitalist for conservation! Nuke the monster! Ban nukes, I mean SUVs! Ask why they hate us! Pay SPECTRE's demands before they get the weather machine working! I am unworrrrthy! It takes a village! Never eat anything with a face! The peasants are revolting! They're after me! They're after me! The red States are coming, the red States are coming! Mommeeeeeeee!" etc.

Hmmmm let's just get rid of Ebert and company alltogether. Wonder if through the magic of modern computer technology, we could have a real team of reviewers.....say "Duke and Clint, at the movies!".

Hell, I'd pay to read and or see that!

HAHAHAHAHA... "Actually the only thing that France does right is nuclear power."

HAHAHAHAHA!

You crack me up, you really do.

Tell that to their Naval Nuclear Power designers.

Posted by Mollbot at May 28, 2004 03:37 PM

Naval power and France should not ever be included in the same paragraph, unless it also includes the phrase "400 years ago".

And maybe not even then.

Yes, and their ariport designers are every bit as good as their aircraft carrier designers.

Wasn't it the US Senate who voted 99-0-1 against the Kyoto Treaty?

Posted by Trooper John Smith at May 28, 2004 09:29 PM

Mr. Smith,

It was 95-0.

"Actually the only thing that France does right is nuclear power."

???

Osirak...

And their ongoing attempts to provide Nuclear weapons to the Arab tyrannies rebuts that point.

16 MAY 2001 statement by French representative to the EU Coûteaux:

"I have no hesitation in saying that we must consider giving the Arab side a large enough force, including a large enough nuclear force, to persuade Israel that it cannot simply do whatever it wants. That is the policy my country (DF: i.e. France) pursued in the 1970s when it gave Iraq a nuclear force. "

Land reactors are rather a different matter than carrier reactors. But I'm sure you knew that, and were just playing for laughs.

Posted by Mr. Bowen at May 29, 2004 10:52 PM

Oh, and movie critics of all stripes need to die die die. So do literary critics.

Posted by Mr. Bowen at May 29, 2004 10:53 PM

I can't do without movie critics. They tell me what the movie is about, who's in it, and whether I should watch it (i.e., comments like, "There's plenty of action and special effects, but no character development," have me reaching for my wallet and heading out the door).
Anywhoo, what Hollywood people know about the real world can, and does, fill books - and libraries. And they would never visit libraries because newspapermen and photographers wouldn't know where to find them.
By the way, you have a great 'blog.

I'm with the guy wants to kill all movie critics.

Not because I hate them, but I have this new scope on the FN Mauser, and I have to see how well it works.

Any one know how to email Ebert? I want to ask him about this Kyoto business, plus ask him where he got his kneepads he uses whenever he sees Michael Moore...plus I want to ask him just how much shit rained down on him last week with his insult of Lord of the RIngs fans.
