Sweep of History

"The martyrdom of Abraham Lincoln obscures the fact he was bitterly reviled by critics at the time. Gen. George McClellan [John Effing Kerry] was drafted to run against Lincoln [Bush] in 1864 on a Democratic peace platform. [Bush] Lincoln won with 2.2 million votes, thanks to a timely military victory after a long string of defeats, but McClellan [Kerry] still received an impressive 1.8 million votes.
"Even the Revolutionary War, say the historians, was at first supported by only an ardent minority [Bloggers].  The 4,400 killed and 6,188 wounded may not sound like much, but in a land of only 3,172,000 people it was still horrific. Only well after the fact did it become apparent to most who would come to call themselves Americans that the Revolution had in fact been one of those rare moments in history when bloodletting led to nearly unalloyed good. Comments: Sweep of History

During the winter of Valley Forge everyone was ready to give up but George Washington’s leadership kept the Americans in the fight.

During the Battle of Britain, when the Germans were bombing British cities, many politicians were calling on Churchill to surrender to Hitler. Churchill refused.

History proves that many times only one man stood between victory and defeat for a country.

Terrorists know this and that is why they are working so hard to have Bush defeated in the election.

Honor comes fom standin' up for what is right and not folding under pressure like a cheap camera. Just because a majority tells you you're wrong doesn't mean they're right!

I've often said that bad decisions are made when a salesman doesn't provide all the information.

Here, The Media(tm) is selling the story short, so a lot of people are in danger of making a bad decision.

During the Civil War there were many Northern politicians and military officers whom as a class were PRO-UNION or PRO-NORTHERN, BUT NOT ANTI-SECESSIONIST NOR ANTI-SOUTHERN since they believed the specific text, not the intent, of the US Constitution did not forbid formal secession by any State. I do not regard McClellan as a per se coward like many Americans, just reluctant to wage violent, destructive war against fellow Americans - up until 1863 and Gettysburg many on both sides still preferred a peaceful resolution to the conflict, with or without re-unification/slavery!
