I've been bored with this blog for a long time , and Spoons and others are right ... I have
become a sideshow. Not at all what I intended in the beginning.
I'll leave it here for while, then I have other plans for using my
rental property. Love you guys though. |
You've always been the main attraction for me Rodge. Good luck.

Posted by Fred D. at July 20, 2004 11:09 AMNoooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
This is my favorite site!
I'd even subscribe, honest.
Posted by dave at July 20, 2004 11:11 AMWhat's wrong with sideshows?
I also check here first and then often during the day. Don't give up yet.
Posted by Bill at July 20, 2004 11:21 AMOh, c'mon, I was just f'ing with you.
If you are bored, don't force it. But this site is often hilarious and has useful information. And tits.
Posted by Bill from INDC Journal at July 20, 2004 11:26 AMBy the way, the picture on this post was HOT. H-O-T.
Posted by Bill from INDC Journal at July 20, 2004 11:29 AMI check this site before all others (yes, Bill, even yours) and often throughout the day. Always funny and insightful. Oh, and the NSFW 'rolls' are great too!
Posted by El Jefe at July 20, 2004 11:45 AMI'm a newbie here, hope my two cents were enough to finally get that baseball glove we've been saving up for... To me, you're not a sideshow, you're more like the Wizard of Oz - perhaps behind the curtain, but still the ruler of Oz! And where would I get my brains if not from you??
P.S. Sometimes I almost pee my pants waiting for the next post.
You rule,
Mr. Persnickety
Yours is, by far, the best blog on the planet. I'm sorry that you feel (A Donk term) otherwise. Hang in there! Your funk will disapate.
Posted by Eugene at July 20, 2004 12:00 PM
Bored??? Well I'm not, so get over it. This is the high point of my web day. The consistent level of amusement value you have been producing is unparalleled. I'm ripping you off, right and left.
Yes, I know the volume and frequency of Leftist horrors is suffocating these days. Trust me, it is working against them. We'll see the results in November. So just set it aside, take a few deep cleansing breathes, and focus on a nice pair of breasts. That's what I do.
What can I say?
I'm a new visitor and have enjoyed your humor and comments the numerous times I've visited in the past few months.
I'm gonna miss it.
The best to you in all you do.

Posted by Fred at July 20, 2004 12:15 PMRodge, consider this site your "Common Sense," your "Boston Tea Party." Keep it up, and they'll eventually name a first-class beer after you.
Maybe you won't get a clear shot at an enemy, but reminding them that you can, once in a while, is useful, too.
The keyboard is mightier than the pen.
And nekkid ladies keep us straight.
Posted by DougM at July 20, 2004 12:15 PMIt's not a sideshow, but a main attraction. Visiting your site is one of the highlights of my day, because while totally serious and utterly frivolous blogs are commonplace, yours is a unique place in blogdom.
Nowhere else can I find this delightful mixture of news, pictures, opinion, laughs, anger, tears and rears at one site.
Please don't quit Rodger, but if you go, I for one will sorely miss you, and wish you all the best in whatever you choose to do.
Posted by dick at July 20, 2004 12:23 PMSometimes, when the hum and thrum of the world gets too much, it's a sideshow that people need.
Posted by Laurence Simon at July 20, 2004 12:25 PMYour blog is one of the high points of my day. Check it regularly for what's new. I understand burnout but hate to see you go. Best wishes.
Posted by Les at July 20, 2004 12:27 PMGot-dammit! I just found you and added you to my blogroll!
Take a break, by all means, but DON'T JUST QUIT!
Posted by Kevin Baker at July 20, 2004 12:29 PMI don't see how you're a sideshow -- more like the center ring, I would say.
But, if ya gotta do it, ya gotta do it.
Posted by Craig at July 20, 2004 12:33 PMseriously. This blog is the only thing keeping from embarking on a six-state killing spree. (This, and a distaste for manual labor, but that's not important.)
Oh the pics, the roll-overs, the commentary!
Oh the humanity.
Don't go. You are Thumos.
Posted by Brother Sean at July 20, 2004 12:41 PMSay it ain't so! I LOVE this site! Take a little break if you feel like you must, I'd rather that than a complete burnout. The rollovers, the hot women, the moral outrage, the cartoons you dig up, it's all gold, man. Your site is a fun and happy place I like to visit after reading heavy and serious conservative stuff for a couple of hours. Next time I'm in MD I'm buying.
Posted by Annoyed White Male at July 20, 2004 12:56 PMOhhh man please don't quit! You and Mr. Du Toit have the only blogs that haven't turned to total shit in the last couple of months. For the love of god I can't get through the day w/out this site!
Posted by Ben at July 20, 2004 01:03 PMPlease don't stop blogging- I just found you fairly recently due to Spoons, but you are a daily (or oftener) stop now. My coworkers all love your chick posts, too.

Posted by Brad at July 20, 2004 01:12 PMHere, Rodge...a nice glass of Scotch....sit back, let me rub your shoulders a bit...there ya go.
Just rest for a awhile......close your eyes and just be. We'll keep the glass filled for ya.
Ditto what Brad said.
I also check C&S first and several times throughout the day. This site rules!

Posted by Holly at July 20, 2004 01:53 PMRodger, you should feel like George Bailey. It is a wonderful life. You are much more appreciated than you imagine. For us, it would have been a disaster if you had never been born. We would have missed out on one of the most classic wits that the internet has to offer. Call Clarence! We need to let you know what life would be like without you.
I am from Texas and for Marylander, you're a pretty good ole boy.
Don't quit. Just take a break and get some balance.
Posted by Eugene at July 20, 2004 02:12 PMWhat? Over? Did you say over hey nothing is over until we say it is. Was it over when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor: Hell no.
Posted by Nunya at July 20, 2004 02:34 PMI was going to take my son on a very nice vacation...but now I'll have to use that money for Betty Ford...where I'll be heading if you quit.

Dammit Rodge, listen to SondraK. She's got scoth, I've got scotch, we've all got scotch - and we're willing to share it with you.
I continually find myself thinking "that's brilliant. Crude, but brilliant - why didn't I think of it?" during my many daily visits.
But if it's blog burnout time - we understand. Just don't destroy the CSS templates until you've had a bit of time to ponder the enormity of your decision.
Posted by Neal (Da Nukevet) at July 20, 2004 03:56 PMRoger, we now have no place to go to learn about life.

Posted by torquemada at July 20, 2004 04:23 PMIf you quit I'll kill my computer. Really.
I think the big problem is that there aren't enough of the big fish that appreciate and link to your site. Fuck them.
You dirty bastards, it's all your fault.
I too check at least twice a day. There's nobody esle that can say so much with so little...er..I mean...you know what I mean. Thank you for all the good times Rodger.
Posted by NC3 at July 20, 2004 04:38 PMNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Whatever you do, keep the Daily Winners.
Posted by David R. Block at July 20, 2004 04:55 PMThanks Rodge.
Crap I hate saying mushy shit, but man I love your work and Im going to miss you. You made me laugh and then when I wasnt payng attention you done got me educated about the dark side of polotics. That is a gift!
Now for fun I like to nail liberals to the walls with the facts. Facts that you pointed out on a daily basis.
Sob....tears....Thanks
Movie plot: After reading a thousand little barely-related factoids, a brilliant conservative blogger suddenly puts it all together and realizes exactly who the crooked, scum-sucking head leftist/Democrat is, and what his next move will likely be. He tells readers he's working on the post that will tell 'em all the details, but just before he can hit the "Post" button, he goes quiet for a couple of days.
When he re-surfaces, he tells readers "Eh, I really don't have much interest in this anymore."
Then one of his fellow bloggers starts re-tracing the logic, and *he* reaches the same conclusion--and similarly, with no warning, gives up blogging.
But of course, such things would only happen in fiction, right?
Posted by sf at July 20, 2004 05:31 PMYou can't !! you just...... can't.
Isn't there someone we could contact in the senate who'll write an amendment to the constitution adding C & S to our bill of rights ??? Not quite as important as the right to bear arms, but Rodger, you supply bare rollovers, and that's close ! (someone check with Kim dT on that one)
Rodger, there are guys who'll give up their left one just so that you would keep going - think of all your single nutted readers out there (and some with nun at all! )
Take some time off if needed, chase Mother S. around the house, drink some scotch, but SAY IT AIN'T THE END !!!
Posted by iteki at July 20, 2004 05:33 PMNo one does what you do. I am amazed how many others check your site more than once a day. I thought it was a personal weakness. Hopefully you will resume this creative, provacative, eye-opening, stage-stealing sideshow after a well deserved rest. Thanks for all your efforts. Roger, you da man!
Posted by Belhaven at July 20, 2004 05:43 PMRodger,
You may be ornery, furious and well-armed. However, with all due respect, I'm a great deal more so, on all counts.
So if you think writing this blog is unpleasant, it will be a hell of a lot more unpleasant having to do it at gunpoint.
Don't make me come up there...
Posted by Kim du Toit at July 20, 2004 06:02 PMGet a couple of guest bloggers to keep it warm for you, then you can just post once a week or something. It'd be better than making us go cold turkey. Are you turning into a ledge dangling Rachel Lucas on us?
Posted by Dave Munger at July 20, 2004 06:04 PMThanks Kim !!

Posted by Raging Dave at July 20, 2004 06:57 PM OK, Rodg, it's time for one of your meltdowns. You can have some vacation, but SCREW YOU SPOONS and all the others who dub you a sideshow. Maybe they're jealous......you have a great following of wonderful people who gather at your place several times a day to enjoy your brilliance.
The blend of humor, politics, and yes, even the ta-tas, is just perfect. I read other blogs, but yours first and foremost; as I've said before, yours was the first I ever read, and it's still the best.
Sideshow? Oh no sir! You're the MAIN ATTRACTION to a lot of readers who ARE entertained as well as educated.
And it felt so good, I'll say it again - to you overblown, self-righteous, pompous windbags who would dare try to make your little-dick blogs more "important" by reducing the genius of another - SCREW YOU!
OMG, THAT felt good.
Come back soon, Mr. Schultz.
I'd still come here if you stopped posting the great pics. I'd still come here if you stopped threatening the traitors with their just rewards. I'd still come here if you stopped posting the jokes and comics. But the reason this is one of my regular, must-check-multiple-times-a-day blogs is because you put those things together with your unique perspective. It's like ribs and BBQ sauce (or dry rub.)
Jeez, I take a week off for vacation, and come back to this?
Rodg, please, we're begging ya. This is the first --the very first-- stop on my way around the Web in the mornings, and as you can see by this post, I check in during the nights, too. What everybody above has said is true.
If you give up now, the terrorists (and liberals) will have won! Don't you see? You can't give up now! Do you want those dirty, stinking liberals to beat you? Huh? Do you?
/The above ploy works in movies, so it's gotta work in real life, too, right?
Posted by Kaptain Krude at July 20, 2004 07:18 PMHaving your link up in my "Super Links" category is one of the main attractions of my blog. It's time to cowboy up, we have an ass kickin' party to attend in November.

Is it because I've been talking up Michelle Malkin, lately? Honest, she means nothing to me.
Rest if you must, but come back soon.

Here's the deal. Several of your fans have offered you a glass of Scotch or two. Very nice of them, but I've got a better offer. You see, I dont't drink at all! (Which proves I need your input more than anybody. Imagine getting through the day without C&S or achohol.) You can have all of mine. That's right! You can have my share of it all! I'll sign it over to you today, Just stick around. (Of course, you'll still have to pay for it, but you can drink, secure in the knowledge that you're not taking it away from some other poor deserving soul.)
Oh, come on!
Sideshow? No way. If I check ONE blog on a given day, this is it. Screw all a' them holier-than-thou, we-give-blogging-a-good-name types. ORDINARY, I can get anywhere. C&S is a one-of-a-kind. Besides... the description is startin' to fit me.

Your site is the main highlight to start my day (sorry Kim, but it is true). A picture is worth a thousand words and you say so much with so few words.
Take a break and let those creative juices fill back up and then see how you feel.

Posted by pdwalker at July 21, 2004 09:51 PMC&S cured my brain tumor. Now what the hell am I supposed to do?
Posted by Jason at July 21, 2004 09:54 PMWinners never quit,And and a.. a well just as my
daddy used to say neverrrr and then he died. But if he had of lived he would probably say,get the hell out of my house and get a damn job loser!
Did that help?
I hope you get refreshed and come back soon.
I miss you already. :'(
Yours is certainly the most innovative blog
that I know or know of.
But it's a good idea to take a time off to recharge
the batteries.
Boredom is a sign of exhaustion, and the latter
is the sure killer of many creative endeavors.
Rodger,
Don't quit...recharge if you must, but don't quit...You have to stay think of the children....err wait that only works on liberals.......think of the DDcups that will be collecting dust after Mrs du Toit follows through on her A cup ultimatum.
Rest up, recharge, get healthy...but come back...the world is a somewhat greyer place without you...and that sucks.
Posted by Guy S. at July 21, 2004 10:53 PMI hear the train a-comin,
It's rollin' round the bend,
And I ain't seen the sunshine
Since I don't know when.
I'm stuck in Folsom prison
And time keeps draggin on.
But that Blogosphere keeps a-bloggin
On down to San Antone.
Or something to that sentiment. We will miss your rants and posts. Sometimes taking a break from the world is healthy. You've got too much talent to stay away for too long. I wish you the best and look forward to your return. Good luck.
Posted by Crash at July 21, 2004 10:55 PMRodger,
Sideshow? As far as I'm concerned, C&S is THE show, as it is the first blog I check everyday. Many blogs are relevant (LGF is a good example), but yours is both relevant AND humorous. And believe me, that humor is much needed. I wish I had half as much talent.

GIMME MY FUNNY!

Rodger, please come back! Take some time off first (just a little, damnit) and rest up, re-focus and come back stronger than ever!!
Posted by Jason Henderson at July 22, 2004 01:59 AMPLEASEEEEEEE STICK AROUND...I JUST FOUND THIS WONDERFUL SITE THAT MAKES ME SMILE.
Posted by MOWHAMHEAD at July 22, 2004 02:09 AMIf this site reflects boredom I shudder at what it would look like if you were seriously interested. I'm a big fan (see the earlier 100+ posts, what they said, etc.) but I think you're giving up just when things are going to get really interesting. Not just the election (although I hope you will have a special gloatfest after the dust settles, but Duke might be mediocre this winter. So just step away from the ledge...
Posted by Hugh at July 22, 2004 07:22 AMAlright! Enough already!
I'm FREAKIN' JONESIN' FER CHRIST'S SAKE!!!
Posted by El Jefe at July 22, 2004 08:01 AMRodge, your blog is the only place I can come and check out great pics of nekkid ladies and not feel guilty about it, because I come for the humor and political commentary. Don't leave me hanging, man.
Posted by Chris D at July 22, 2004 08:45 AMI've said it before, I'll say it again:
You're the only thing I get some of every day.
Except, now, yesterday.
And today, so far.
OK, enough goofing off, get back to work and entertain us or we will have to report you to Mother Superior.
Posted by torquemada at July 22, 2004 09:18 AMDenial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance are the five stages of getting over a really great blog that is no longer with us. Of course, that doesn't apply here as Rodge is just kidding with us a bit. He's not really gone. Right Rodge? Rodger? Damn it, now I'm starting to get mad!
Posted by Kingslasher at July 22, 2004 10:16 AMSeeing this foursome was humorous the first 100 times I checked to see if there had been a return of Rodger, but now it is not doing my sanity any good. I dream of new content, a new daily Miss, a weenyface Edwards cartoon, Moore gobbling waffles rectally. Please send in the clowns.
Posted by Pete at July 22, 2004 11:53 AMAnd now the last rollovers have dissapeared too. Please say it ain"t so.
Posted by Douglas R.` at July 22, 2004 01:57 PMAnd now for something completely different???

Posted by torquemada at July 23, 2004 04:57 PMI swear I'll hold my breath til my face turns blue if you dont come back...
Posted by Justin at July 23, 2004 06:21 PMI'll spread rumors that you're working for the Kerry campaign if you don't come back. What am I supposed to do with all my links to your site?
Posted by J Bowen at July 23, 2004 09:17 PM146 shameless replies and counting begging you to resume. What do you need, Rog, to assuage your narcissism? Can't you tell how we worship your daily spew? You proved your point, now get back to work!
